Railwayman. After the fall of the Empire, he commanded a battalion of the national guard. Elected as a Member of Parliament in February 1871, he resigned to take a seat in the Town Hall. During the Commune, he was a member of the commission for general security and war. He opposed the execution of hostages. He went into exile in London (bust of Marguerite Syamour).
